People participate in the forum to discuss trains, toy, model, and even some prototype. I am certain that a lot of people are interested in those threads.

If they aren't interested in them, the option exists not to read them.

Well said Alan, and now that I think of it I probably look a little closer at the latest MTH catalog and see what all the "hubub" is that I missed.

Word of Mouth is the best kind of advertizing.  People happy about your product.  Besides, it would be strange for those in the hobby to not discuss what is new. . .

J Daddy, to you and all the O Gauge/Scale folk, we always welcome you over here on the S-Scale Trains Forum to see what's new in S.  Just make sure you take a look at the new S offerings by both MTH and Lionel.  They are coming out with some great new stuff.  Both companies now have a dedicated S catalog.  It's truly an exciting time to be in S!

As long as the subject came up, I have no problem with new product announcements or what's coming in this month. 

But, I don't think it was necessary to make three idential postings by the same author in three threads in one forum.  It seemed to fall just short of bumping. 

One thread was suffcient.(IMHO)

Wow, saw the new covered hoppers... very nice, I used to be in S but change over to O 10 years ago due to the lack of availability of new products... now its tough to look at...

I encourage reviews of train catalogs. It is a part of our hobby. We all have the power to bypass those topics that have no interest to us. So Mark in Oregon, just don't open the catalog review posts and enjoy the rest of this great forum.

What is interesting is that the sponsor promoting the new MTH products actually doesn't have much at all on their website re MTH 'S' gauge, so I don't actually see how in this instance it actually benefitted them directly, ironically he was actually suggesting other places to go to for making purchases.

It would probably be of use to those sponsors on the forum that actually stock MTH 'S' products to post when the product is in and what the best prices are available to forum members, it might make some sponsors reduce prices to get a purchase, bit like bidding for something but in reverse.

I am very happy to read about new products on the forum.  I just bought a MTH product that I learned about from the forum.  I frequently buy other items that people mention.  Keep the reviews coming.
