Got a Menards Gift Card but...

That's a bummer.

On the plus side, the money you don't spend on fertilizer can go to trains!

Do what I do.  Spend the gift card for what is in your budget (fertilizer, weed killer etcetera) and then take the money you would have used for that and spend it on what you want.

B&N will not people use Debit Cards on-line either. So it looks like Gift Cards and Debit Cards are not allowable by the big retailers, yet small retailers allow it.

I have bought a few Menards train things and had them delivered to the store. I used my credit card to purchase online then when I receive the items at the store I just ask cashier to return them and credit my credit card, then I buy them using a gift card or rebate.

Just place your order at the contractor/special order desk, bring the paper work to the register on the way out and pay using your gift card.

Save your gift card for the holiday season when Menards stock all the train stuff in the stores. I have a feeling that this year will be a bonanza in train stuff at the stores. And if there is a 11% rebate promotion happening it will be just that much better.
