I have gotten back my santa fe northern.I have to say I am pleased this time.It operated pretty well this time the sound of the whistle.Real nice sounding and the smoke works well to.Kuddos to jeason train shop very nice and cool people to deal with.I not gonna go over pulling power because mth locomotives will pull a tree out of the ground.As I don,t have a layout yet but I have ran some pretty long freights in the pass.You can check it out at youtube go to 889ts.Jeasons train shop big thumbs up from me to you.

What was the problem? I am getting ready to send mine in because the electronics connection keeps dropping out. I am lucky if it makes a lap around the loop. I am disappointed with the latest Rail King Santa Fe Northern - the tender deck handrails no longer stand up above the tender deck, a detail the earlier models expressed.

It was the draw bar one of the contection pin in the tender was to short.Thats why i got everything esle escept movement.Sent it to jeason trains shop and got great service.It was a screwup at the factory and it was under warrenty so no charge.I am with you on one thing.I never had a problem with the tether.I always thought if anybody asked about it.I,d say well its how they get water from the tender to the locomotive.
I have modified a couple of my locomotives to use the Straight end tether.
Now it looks like the Stoker tube carrying coal from the tender.
There are some heavy side effects:
You must be willing to carve a slot in the front of the tender for the tether to move side to side in.
You also lose O-31 curve capacity, you just can't swing the tether far enough.
Now, on my Imperial Big Boys, the front of the tender is recessed enough you really don't see the slot I carved. Also, be careful to make the height of the slot correct. My first one was about a cable width low, but it still worked.

I have an old railking berkshire c&o.Well looking an pictures of the real thing.You will notice that the headlight is low with the number boards.I thought of having some body doing some rework on my locomotive.But seeing we are dealing with metal.I scrabed the idea because I thought.What if something went wrong I would stuck in a bad way.
