Sorry, these should have been attached to a post I thought I had made.
I managed to disconnect the rear truck from a new Lionel GP-20. Is there any advice on ho to reconnect the truck to the body, short of sending it into the shop? I can see that the truck has to be installed normal to the body, and the drive splines have to be properly aligned. But how to do that?
Thanks.

You might be over thinking this. The drive cup is designed to semi self align to the drive on the motor. Thus, when you insert the truck upwards into the engine frame, gently attempt to rotate the wheels which can backdrive the gears and will aid in alignment.
The motor is relatively free spinning so again, the drive cup shape is tapered to help self align.
Again, these are rounded intentionally on the top edge to self align for the most part

Vernon,
Thank you. I'll try again, with better support for the engine.
