Great private layout. My Lionel service man friend George took us to a 40' x 60' building the other day that is home to a small club of 6 - 8 active members who have crafted this beautiful set up in SE Louisiana.. All well-weathered Atlas track fitted smooth as silk with minimum 072 curves. They operate Legacy and DCS and have some fine equipment. What is refreshingly different is that they have allowed lots of open space for scenery and sweeping vistas to view the trains in the foreground. Unlike many of our layouts that are often overcrowded with the latest accessory or nick-nack, this one is 'restful' and 'tranquil'. Take a look and enjoy...

One member is an artist and musician and painted the beautiful murals that encircle the whole room. There is a waterfall he did that blends into a river that becomes part of the layout. You may be able to glimpse it in the video.

Look at this rock work below - they obtained some rubber molds from a fella in CA that produced some of the finest rock faces I've seen. Very deep crevasses and relief

Thank you for the wonderful post.

When I think of O scale layouts I do not usually think of realistic scale views and vistas. For most of us, we have to deal with compression and compromise for everything we do. This layout really demonstrates the size requirements necessary to achieve proportional realism. I wonder what kinds of depths they allowed to get those vistas. It looks to me like some of those runs could be more than six or more feet deep. It really is beautiful. Thank you for the post and kudos to the builders and artists. Real talent. Could you perhaps get a schematic drawing from them showing the footprint and proportions?

I'm not at liberty to disclose where exactly this layout is per the owner's request. They mostly invite people they know and don't seem to want the 'general public' to be aware of it although they DO have a Facebook page.  I will inquire through my friend if they would like to talk with Allan
