I have the Lionel 6-25608 SANTA FE "SUPER CHIEF" 18" ALUMINUM PASSENGER CAR 4-PACK and was looking to change out the incandescent lighting with GRJ's led kits.  Has anyone had any experience with replacing the lighting in these or similar units?  These also have an on/off switch with I assume I can just add to the input of GRJ's circuit.

Maybe @gunrunnerjohn may have some insight to this particular install.

Marty, those look just like the strips in my Lionel Santa Fe 18" cars.  I just removed the lighting strip, used their connector for the track power to feed my LED driver module, and stuck a strip of warm white LED's on the ceiling of the car, those were wired to the DC output of the LED driver module.  For the observation car, I put a 510 ohm resistor in series with the two leds that I also rewired in series and connected them to a set of the LED strip pads.  I left the drumhead powered the way it was from track power.

I don't have a wiring diagram, but it should be pretty easy to trace.  I see an LED board in the back, not sure what that's about.  It kinda looks like it takes track power.  I haven't had a set of these to look at.

Most of the cars just have the lamp panel that plugs into the connector from track power.  I just cut that connector and wire off and use it to supply the LED regulator module with track power.
