Someone posted a question about transporting trains to shows. I think that it was in W/E photo fun but I couldn't find it.

Anyway I received an email from American Science & Surplus today. They have free shipping till 1/27/2014.

They have a hardshell case with foam inserts for $27.50. It's smaller than the one I currently have; but I measured some engines on my office wall and it would hold a tinplate 262 or 263 or a PW Berk. Here is the link http://www.sciplus.com/p/HARDS...EQUIPMENT-CASE_54173

Speaking of HF, I wanted to get a case to carry some Locos to our modular setups.  Bought the "Nesting Case" toolboxes at HF for about $25.

The biggest one fits my GE Evolution Loco and 4 other engines.  I made a plywood cradle to hold two in the bottom, then made a cover board and put 3 more engines on top, separated by foam.

The largest one holds the engines - over 20" long - my NYC Railking steam Loco & tender fits fine.  The next size down holds about 15 Railking size freight cars.  The third size down holds 4 Railking passenger cars!

On top there are plastic trays for small parts.
