If anyone has visited the Hartmann Model Railroad & Toy Museum, in Intervale, NH, what do you think about it. The friends we will be visiting while in Manchester, NH thought this would be a good day trip. It is just north of Conway, NH, about 2-1/4 hours from Manchester. I am not sure that we will have the time to ride the Conway Scenic Railroad while there.

Bill ride the Conway Scenic you will not regret it, great vistas of the White Mountains of NH and don't forget the Cog Railway at MT Washington, down the road from Conway.
Don,
My wife and I did the Conway Scenic railroad 6 years ago. We will be doing the Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad on July 25 on our way to Manchester, NH. There is no way in H??? that I can get my wife on the Mt. Washington Cog Railroad
Don,
I sent you an email.
I liked the Hartman display, nicely displayed and all the railways mentioned above.
There is a small I model rail club at the conway operation and go in the morning to see them turn the steam loco.
East of the Cog think it was the next town there was an invite in the local tourist info what to do page for a large American Flyer layout display in a private home. It was the old AF nothing to fancy just a local collector. he ran trains for us on the visit to his top floor. Found it an interesting collection.
Here is a link to the main railways.
I thought the Clarks Trading post was interesting to see the collection of steam engines, try and get a look into the roundhouse!
Hartmann's has a huge train store, but all items at MSRP prices or higher. They don't seem to like kids, telling everyone with a kid not to let them touch anything in the store. Surprised they are still in business. The museum is OK, but nothing special.

I agree as I was very disappointed when I visited there about 7 years ago. Unless they improved it since then, the so-called “museum” was more of a train store with an admission fee than it was a museum. I’m also surprised they are still in business. I hope they're not a Forum sponsor or OGR advertiser.

Thanks for all your replies. I will pass this on to the friends we will be visiting. We still may go.
I have been to Hart's when visiting the area 4 years ago. We really enjoyed the food.
