I'm looking LED that will light ceramic houses, with the "warmth" and even distribution , I've only seen from incandescents. I've tried a few different Christmas LEDs, but they just don't cut it. I've probably asked this coming out of other Christmases, but the technology keeps improving.

With the Christmas layout coming down, I'm looking for ways to minimize next years wiring. I envision building an extendable line of bulbs (there are many connector options, so with 1 relatively thin wire set, I can wire all the houses in an area to 1 transformer or outlet. I can make those wires fit my spacing. I have strings of incandescent bulbs and will ultimately adapt those, if necessary, but they are thick and I'm not sure they lend themselves to adaptation as well.

Marty, I've been looking into this as well, just to simplify the wiring, All those plugs run my power strip out of outlets not to mention the power consumed.

A Sponsor, Evans Designs, Has a couple options that look good.

There are two lighting packages, the Miniaturist package is for smaller buildings and the Package for scale models has several LEDs. Both offer warm white LEDs.

The smaller set uses a button type battery and the larger one can be 2 AA's or a 9V.

Both come with a switch for in line use and a battery holder.

I can come up with the same parts from a electrical sellers but the packages do not look overpriced and it is much less hassle.

Plus most of my sources have a minimum order of $50, That's a lot of LEDs and related parts.

For the screw base type bulbs, I picked up several LED chipped nightlight type bulbs at Walmart that come 2 bulbs per pack.  These bulbs are available with either clear or frosted glass, have 3 LED warm white chips in each that provide a nice warm light.  I think they cost around $3 for a package of 2.  They might also have packs of 5 at a lower price per bulb.

Russell,

I'm compiling a list for Evans. Fire kit for PE roof, LEDs for passenger cars. They actually offered to do some custom work as well ie: I want to put LEDs in trolleys that run at less than 7VAC, so they will customize the 7 - 19V setup. I think those kits, they have might end up putting hotspots of light behind the ceramic, rather than the glow the incandecents give, but maybe I wil try one.  I will ask if they have a solution, but I need to run them off a transformer, so I can shut down the layout with 3 or 4 remote controlled outlets.
