As long as it works for you, that's all that matters. My trainroom is, 20'X 30'. It will be a while before I need to think about expansion.

No, but I am thinking about expanding from 4x10 to 5x10. I don't want or need anything larger, that's the beauty of O-31 tube track and toy trains.

The answer has to be "no" because I'm not going to get any more room, period. 

Whats needed when you run out of room is a Walthers Basement Stretcher (also useful as a room expander).  My friend Tom says that Walthers used to make them, but he hasn't seen them available in many years.

I like it..........too bad if I want to do something similar, it would be underground and would totally lose the wonderful effect. Like another poster said, I would definetely add the "Mailbox Flag"......how cool would that look.

When my layout was 9x5 I needed just 6 more feet in width. Now I am 10x15 and I could still use 6 more feet in width.

Another pole, another ten feet - what's your holdup? Is there an access panel

on the other side? Another ten feet might require one!

 

I like it. I've though about exterior GG track and just running a loop out and back

into the back yard for natural light, but sealing the holes, keeping raccoons, possums, coyotes, roaches, children and Gulf Coast thunderstorms (hurricanes!) out...your idea works better. At least armadillos don't climb well, or do they...?

Self-discipline has nothing to do with it. I prefer to be in charge of my hobbies and not be controlled by them. Unless one is trying to win Olympic gold or play guitar like Pat Metheny, I have found obsession to be mostly counterproductive.
