I'm having a problem uploading pictures to the forum. Usually I use upload attachments below each topic and it won't let me. It keeps saying uploading and it never does and it will not post my pictures. I was trying to sell something on the for sale forum and it did not work. You'll notice I have a topic about the signal bridge I'm making and I have a picture, but it's a link from a website where at the top it says Insert/Edit Image and I use the website tinypic.com and that's how I use my pictures. But that's not the way I want to upload my pictures. I want to use the Upload Attachments. Can Rich or Allen or someone help me?

First go to adobe.com and update your flash player. Next did you change any firewall or security settings? I get that same error when trying to upload from work due to firewall settings. Finally try a different browser and see if you get the same results.
also helps to know what computer configuration you are using
Chris & Tom,
I use Windows 7, Firefox, and Adobe Flash Player 13.0.0.xxx. I tried to upload three fairly small PDF files a few days ago in response to another post and had quite a bit of difficulty. After 5 minutes, the first small file still showed "Uploading" and the other two files were listed as "Queued."
As I see it, there are two possible problems. First, upload speeds are much slower than download speeds (my Internet Service Provider (ISP) is AT&T), and I might have been attempting an upload when my local circuits (I live in Chicago area) were clogged. Or, second, something on the forum was slowing and/or preventing the upload. Eventually, I cancelled the upload and told the poster where to find the PDF files on the internet. Without knowing how to trace and/or track bytes over the internet, I don't know if the problem is at my end, in the middle (the ISP), or at the receiving end.

Are you using a photo hosting site like photobucket.com or another one? Sometimes I get the wrong URL code and it don't take. With photobucket I have to bring up the photo then click on it's properties and get the URL to type in from there.
I will say this about posting photos through a photo hosting site to another website is not always easy. Sometimes you just have to keep trying something until it works.

I used Google Chrome and it works. But using Internet Explorer does not work.
Everything worked fine yesterday, and now today it is a problem, obviously,
not directed to any one section of the country, and there should be no reason
to have to change settings or browsers , my automatic updates is set to off,
and my adobe is fine, problem is on the internals.............not my computer
having the same problem uploading pictures, holding down the control button to click all pictures to load is not working either. had to do one at a time, and would never load.
I used Google Chrome and it works. But using Internet Explorer does not work.
I also found Chrome works best.
1 more change, IT seems, how bout that heart with the star in the middle
on the url, is that something !!!, looks more like the Tex spec star
but , whats the deal again
thanks
I haven't tried uploading since I got my new computer with Win8. I had Chrome but was having issues with it online so I went with Internet Explorer. Going to try and upload with Explorer to see if it works.
It seems to work Ok for me, only thing weird was after I uploaded the pic it asked if I wanted to stay on this page.

This forum has never worked every good with IE. I downloaded chrome after all the "hoopla" and never had a problem since.
Attaching photos and video for that matter, is as easy as it gets for a "computer illiterate" person like myself.

Pete,
I've never experienced any problems with my Mac and Firefox, but, even with this combination, I have never been able to use Control to select more than one photo at a time.
I've always assumed that you had to upload each photo individually, as I've been doing from the beginning.
Jim
Jim,
I have always been able to add more then 1 picture at a time. the pop up screen was changed when you click the add attachment link.
Just thought I'd try a photo upload from my hard drive today. If you see it below, it means that uploading with Firefox works.

Edit: Well, it failed again. Software info is same as in my post 2 days ago. Started upload of one 39KB picture at 7:00AM and gave up at 7:06AM. Per AT&T, my upload speed should by 512KB per minute. I have also seen several posters in the For Sale or Trade forum complain of inability to upload pictures recently. Firefox has not been upgraded recently, but Abobe Flash has just recently been upgraded to 13.0.0.xxx. Hope someone can figure this out soon.

I have the latest Firefox FLASH updates and I have no issue uploading pictures. I suspect this is not a forum issue.
To test editing, I'm adding this picture with an edit.
Another edit, here's the version of FLASH that I'm running, 13.0.0.182

John's, photos show 3 and I sware it was 4 just 30 seconds ago,
I do not see the 3rd photo,( at the bottom ) so even still the problems exist
For some reason I can't get the 3rd photo to properly add.
WAIT, it did add, but it hangs returning.
But I can't get it to show within the body of the reply. You still have to click the thumbnail at the bottom.
This was using Safari. Chromed seemed to work better.

I wanted to post pix in the ongoing thread "What did you do on your layout..." and could not. At that point I gave up giving further updates. At this point I still can't and Adobe has updated my flash player. I'm running Vista and IE9 and everything was working fine until the Hoopla favicon changed. I also get asked if I want to save the file from OGR, what!!! I'm uploading it, why would I want to save it. I dunno, I just dunno.
There was a recent upgrade which provided a means for tablet users to upload photos from their tablets. I don't know if this is related to the problem some of you are having with your computers or not.
I have alerted Hoopla Tech Support about this.
I think there is something going on Rich, I was able to upload, but after a couple, the forum hangs until I cancel the post. However, the post does go through, that's new behavior for me.
FROM HOOPLA TECH SUPPORT...
There was originally an issue with uploads in Internet Explorer 9 when we first released the new file uploader on April 2, but that issue was fixed with a subsequent release on April 4. Nothing has changed in the file upload behavior since April 4.
I've just run a test upload on your site in IE 9, 10 and 11, and uploads seem to work without issue. Thus, this doesn't appear to be a general issue, and perhaps is related to those user's specific installations. You might have them check their installed plugins/extensions to see if they have anything that could be conflicting (such as anti-virus software).
Note that the file uploader no longer uses or requires Adobe Flash in all major browsers. The file uploader now uses the native HTML file uploader.
I was able to post this picture of my "Little Sweetheart" (my granddaughter) directly from my iPad...
All dressed up and ready to go to the "Sweetheart Dance" at church with Daddy.

Yes, it DOES work. It works just fine for 99.99% of the people who are using this forum.
Instead of complaining about it, have you checked the things that Hoopla Tech Support suggested you check? Whatever the problem is, it is something on your computer...probably Internet Exploder.
Firefox...always works.
Mr. Melvin,
I do use Firefox to access this site, and I'm again going to try to upload one picture, a 39KB file, to this site after uninstalling my firewall. Let's see what happens.
Well, with no firewall, the picture uploaded almost immediately. So, for the benefit of others, I use the Comodo Free firewall and it was just updated to version 7.0 several days ago. Before that upgrade, I could upload pictures and data as easy as pie, so, I'm guessing the issue is within my firewall update choice. I must log off quickly now to protect myself, but I'm going back to Comodo Free v6.3 and will send them an e-mail with my displeasure about their "new" product.

I'm guessing the real solution with your firewall is to simply properly configure it for Firefox.
gunrunnerjohn,
Went back to Comodo Free v6.3 firewall and again attempted upload. Instant success again. I did nothing to configure either version, so something changed on their end which I'm not happy about. I may have to look around for another good, free firewall that just works out of the "box."
Other uploaders with problems, try turning off or uninstalling your firewall and see if the upload works again. If so, firewall change, or modification if so inclined, may be required.

All four of my computers that use Internet Explorer in various versions are no longer able to post any photos using the "Add Attachments" feature. The last photo I posted was on March 30 . I tried again on April 11 with no luck. None of my computers had been upgraded or "improved" in that interval.
I did not want to mess with the settings in my Internet Explorer browsers, as the Hoopla tech suggested, because IE has worked fine for all my other applications, and I did not want risk compromising other features..such as virus protection.
So I solved the problem by downloading Google Chrome, which I now use exclusively for posting forum photos. Chrome works very well for this.
I am in agreement , John, with Rich's comment , I went with Google Chrome,
and it brings the pop up box, to search the files you want to up load,
with out fail, also Chrome is on, and forum is on the Chrome!!!!!!!!!!!
Things worked fine until Hoopla "enhanced their bionics" last week. Now people are being forced to change their choice of browser to do one simple little task, like uploading photos.
Something seems misplaced here.
Vulcan, no one is being "forced" to do anything! Hoopla changed from a Flash-based upload (which did not work on IOs devices) to a basic html file uploader. A quick view of the last several days on this forum shows that very few people are having any issues at all with this. Pictures are being posted all over the place! The fact that you are having a problem means that something is wrong on your computer. Did you check the things that Hoopla Tech Support suggested?
Internet Explorer did not get the nickname "Internet Exploder" without good reason. It is a HORRIBLE browser, loaded with problems other browsers simply do not have. Read this thread and you quickly see that Google Chrome and Firefox users are not having issues.
FROM HOOPLA TECH SUPPORT...

Rich, if you mean this, I don't know what to look for as far as plugins/extensions. I did try with the anti-virus turned off and the firewall turned off with the same results. Though I know I haven't made any changes on them in this time-frame.
Does anybody know why I get this now?
I know it's hard to read but the band at the bottom is asking if I want to open or save "a whole bunch of letters and numbers (130 bytes)" from ogr forum.ogaugerr.com.
The letters and numbers change every time I try to upload. Clicking open or save does nothing.

Here's a reply with IE11, just so I can see if it works without issues.
Looks like it works for me with IE11, however I use Firefox as my browser, which also works.

Chuck,
I'm using IE9, Vista. The firewall is windows and the anti-virus is Norton.
I found the add-ons. What's there is all greek to me.
just installed google chrome, and get the same message, uploading picture and nothing happens.
It's very likely you have a firewall or other security software interfering with the uploads. I've tried it with both IE and Firefox here and I have no issues. I run Avast! AV and MalwareBytes Anti-Malware.
