Hoping someone can help with some direction on this... I bought new replacement motor for the broken magnet issue with the speed control sensor... anyone know how to get the motor off of the truck...seems the screw from underneath does not hold on the motor like the postwar trucks.
Does anyone know how it is attached so i can swap out the motors?

This is one of Lionel's "puzzle" trucks. You have to remove the pickup wire from the top through the slot next to the motor. I believe there are also several screws on the corners of the truck underneath, those come out as well. Then the truck will separate at the seam you see along the sides. The wheel sets and an extra gear will fall out with the bottom of the truck. At that point, you can access the two motor mounts.
Putting it back together takes some caution as well, there is a flat spot on the bronze bushings of the wheelset axles and drive gear shaft that must be in the correct orientation to get the trucks back together properly. If those aren't in the right place, the wheels will bind and you'll be doing it all over again.
Thanks for response... I cant seem to "release" the truck so I can get to the screws on the top...is there some sort of way to release the truck so you can get access?...or am I just being stupid... could be that...

You can't "release" the truck until you remove the screw that holds the pickup roller on, it's the one with the red wire for center track power. You have to reach through the chassis slot to get it.
Had a chance to do this earlier...worked out perfectly... and no extra pieces
