Help Operating a Legacy locomotive with TMCC | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

Ok. I'm retired and am only now getting back into model railroads, so at the risk of exposing my naivete, can I operate a Legacy locomotive with the Lionel TMCC system? Will it recognize a Legacy engine, and will I be able to exploit all of the Legacy engine's capabilities? I have my eyes on a Legacy engine but don't want to mistakenly buy it if it is not controllable through TMCC. I also have an MTH DCS TIU system as I've acquired more than one MTH ProtoSound engine.

Sure, the old CAB1/BASE1 will run them just fine. You won't get the Legacy only features like the quilling whistle and special features that are activated by the missing AUX3 key. You can do all the normal control operations, use the couplers, sound features, etc.

Lionel should start offering payment plans, just like on real engines so a plate can be added with the bank name……lmao
