When I tested it, the pin popped out as soon as I ran the locomotive. Anybody have any other suggestions for a way to fix this....or has anyone else run into this problem before? Any other repair places you would recommend for fixing it?

As I recall, that pin is just a rivet. It should be just a matter of removing the eccentric crank assy. and tapping on the back of that pin with a small hammer with the aid of something with a small diameter pressed against the pin. Be careful, though, that you don't hammer it so much that the crank can't turn anymore. If that doesn't do it, you can always replace the entire crank assy. Any of the parts dealers would have one. I wonder what Trains.com did to it. They should have replaced the part if they coudn't get the pin to stay in.
