I purchased a used MTH F3 A unit. The loco runs in conventional mode. I have DCS and TMCC on the track but I'm not sure if this engine is compatible with either. I replaced the 9 volt battery (the original was at .5V). The bottom board has Train America Studio ver 1.5 written on the surface. No documentation is available. Any assistance or suggestions would be appreciated.

It’s not EOB as there’s no tach or tach reader on either motor flywheel. You have a R2LC board installe along with railsounds. Should run with TMCC. Looks like a SAW.
give it a new TMCC address and see if it works in command
TAS board are TMCC, I see what appears to be the run/program switch in you first photo. Try putting the switch into the program position and reprogram the engine. Hope that work for you.

Reprogramming didn't seem to work. It's not showing up as an active engine.
Use the TMCC remote, sometimes using the DCS remote is tricky. Also, TMCC is a one-way conversation, so the DCS doesn't know if the engine is there or not.
Forgot about the one way. Unfortunately, I don't have a TMCC remote ( Is it worth getting a TMCC remote?) only DCS. I do have an AC commander (ERR) engine that is working fine on the system. I looked over the boards closely and nothing jumps out as damaged.
FYI - Your new battery in my PS2 unit did the trick. Works great.
If you set the RUN/PGM switch to PGM, then add the TMCC engine to your DCS remote, it should configure it properly. Turn the RUN/PGM Switch back to RUN, and see if it runs then.
It did configure and it went to active on the remote but did not move or show any signs of commands from the remote - no sounds.
I think it's time to check it on a true TMCC layout to see if it's simply dead.
