Looking at the going rate for good 3 rail OO sectional track in tight radius, about $25 a section or more at current prices, and $200 or more for a pair of turnouts(only option is vintage Lionel and hard has heck to find). One would think there is enough of a market for a limited production run of OO sectional track that mates with the original stuff. While the scale is a dead end, yes we all know that, the desire for folks to run these little jewels is there. The high cost of and difficulty of obtaining track and switches is the HUGE problem. Gargraves makes wider radius track, but once again, no switches limits its demand and usability for a true layout. I would love to build a nice 3x8 OO layout using 3 rail track, but I desire more than just a basic oval. I also do not have a bottomless wallet to fork over $25 a piece for track or 200-600 for a pair of switches. Someone out there make a run of this stuff! Clone the original stuff, it cannot be that hard. AD

For the small market and the cost to create the tooling, the cost per piece for new very well could end up being MORE than the cost you refer to.
This is not something they would easily sell a couple hundred thousand pieces of, I don't think.

The other option is for someone to create track gauges for laying OO track ( Lionel, not European OO ), and to come out with at least some printed turnout templates. People lay HO track all the time, why not OO?
OO as we know died before the war here in the US. Being manufactured here again is out of the question, especially with no OO trains. Have you checked out Hornby or other UK brands where OO is still used?
It's my understanding the European OO and Lionel OO are not the same width.
The gauge is the same as On3, for which track components and flextrack are available. They should work, perhaps using larger rail, for the 2-rail variety, anyway. Laying 3-rail track wouldn't be hard, and I believe switches could be done using more or less the same methods as dual-gauge, O/On3 trackage. Cost would be down, but effort would be 'way up!
I am looking for sectional track, not hand laid track, of which I am unable to do as my hands are not stable enough to build switches for 3 rail. The folks in the PRC are excellent at cloning things, with the original sectional track going for $25 a section or more, and turnouts north of $300 a pair, one would think there is a market for the stuff. Most nicer track ends up in a bidding war on ebay. So either folks are hording it or despiratly trying to find enough to build a layout. AD
Correct, UK OO is the same 1:76th scale, but on HO track, so the scale does not match the track gauge. American OO runs on wider 5/8ths gauge track. Same as On3 track, which can be used for 2 rail home layouts and if you have the skills, the 3rd rail added, but tricky to insulate at switches and diamonds. Gargraves makes track in both 2 and 3 rail. its very much HI rail as it uses what appears to be their S gauge rails. Matching switches in 3 rail and 2 rail would be all we really need to make that line enough to get by. While its a dead scale, those aware of it and that have the models, crave someone to make track. Its not "dead" by any means, just a niche scale that is quietly modeled in by several folks. One writes a really nice online blog. Till then, I keep buying track when I can afford it. As the curves to run a 700e barely fit in my train room as a circle, and a reisue 1-700e looks odd on 042 curves(but was built to do that with the non scale pilot wheels). AD
