i really wanna see the ready to run catalog i really don't care about the signature stuff except the lionchief stuff  i will probably never afford the high end stuff anyway

i would love to see another Area 51 set with a GP38 this time

all the sets i'm listing i want them to have a GP38 or u-boat

NERF elite freight set with a woodchip hopper carrying NERF darts and a NERF cannon car

SHARKNADO freight set with figures of the main characters you can attach to the roof of the GP38

I would love to see more PRR steam. H10's, L1s, G5's... I shouldn't complain though. Weaver and 3rd Rail already made excellent models of these. However I wish Lionel would stop putting their markings "Built by Lionel" on some of their higher end rolling stock. Lionel made a great decision in putting this lettering under their rolling stock and cabeese in sets such as the M1a/b coal train set. I'm not sure if they have continued in doing this but I have scale milk cars with the "Built by Lionel" markings on it. Of course a few dabs of paint and these can be taken off.

As a collector who operates from both sides of the spectrum, (postwar, prewar, MPC and modern) I like to keep the era's separate. At least when it comes to scale items.

There are many of us with tighter curves who also love traditional and postwar inspired products. It's not a dying market. I'm 46, not a dinosaur. Let's bring back Pullmor open frame AC motors. Bring back Magne-Traction. Bring back the smell of ozone and grinding motors.

Gotta +1 from me, and I'm much younger than you! Just make sure not to convert standard measurements to metric...

Heck, I'd be game if they would just make the parts and you build your own...

Why not give LEGACY Milwaukee Road Hiawathas a go?

Along with a 21" 1935 Hiawatha Passenger consist to go with them.  I know they had airhorns, but my question is: Did they use steam whistles, too?

I'm not certain, but I suspect Lionel doesn't have the tooling for the 2007 model anymore. I believe it was one of the models done by Sanda Kan before Kader (Bachmann's parent company) took over and booted a lot of manufacturing partners (Lionel and Atlas included) out the door. Some of the design rights and tooling were retained by Sanda Kan if they weren't designed by a manufacturing partner. @Dave Olson might know for certain.

I heard that there will be only one catalog coming out this coming year. Anyone else heard that?

No, but it might be interesting to know why?

so it will all be one giant book next year with like 500 pages?

I don't know for sure, but that was what the daughter of my local dealer said(and she knows her stuff just like her dad). I guess we'll just have to wait and see if there is some announcement about it.

I don't know if Dave Olsen knows about this tooling.

A Santa Fe Super Chief passenger consist (1951 Vintage) to haul behind the set of ABBA F3s I ordered from the current catalog.  21 inch cars are fine as long as they have the close connect auto adjust couplers and work on O-54. I would want all car types for a proper consist, RPO, Baggage, Dome/Lounge, Diner, Observation, and the various Sleeper layouts.  Sleeper Cars Pine/Palm 10-6 and and Regal 4-4-2 in a two car set would be nice so you could easily buy multiples for a more accurate consist if desired.

If L did what Menards does, there would be no need for a catalog.

Menard's can afford to do what they do because trains are such an infinitesimally small part of their operation ($8.7 billion,) Lionel can't afford to do the same ($51.27 million estimated.)

Plus, Menard's has so far stayed away from locomotives, high levels of rolling stock detail and and electronic controls systems.

That's a big difference in money. Menard's does a ton of stuff, that's for sure. First time I went to their website it took me quite some time to locate their train items.
