So I am looking for insight into how the MKT used the head end express reefer...did they run these on the Texas Special or any other name passenger train? If so, were they the green wood sides and only run with heavyweights, or did they have red and silver painted streamline stuff to run with the red cars?

Also, if I were going to set up a Texas Special consist, would it have a GREEN head end boxcar, a GREEN reefer, and Red passenger cars? OR, if the head end stuff was green, would it need to be green heavyweight pullmans to be correct?

I know it doesn't really matter on a toy layout...but just wondering what would be correct for the fun of modeling it...

Maybe one of these Atlas O MKT express boxcars? . IIRC there was a book with a picture of the yellow one in the consist. Pennsy express reefer clearly plausible. Maybe an express box car from New York City with newspapers?
