Better quality from a more recent build Hogwarts Express (2021). Still two issues that may be persistent with this model and maybe Lionel RTR sets at this level: (1) The LionChief App on Android is slow and inconsistent even on new phone and close to engine and (2) Chuffing sounds are almost inaudible -- especially using FasTrack and if not on a padded platform. It could be that sound track is not working for that sound, but I may have to change setup to check. Compared to MTH RTR sets even back to PS2, PS2 sounds and smoke is much better for comparable RTR sets.
I think you can turn up the volume using the remote. Press the whistle and microphone button at the same time and use the throttle knob to adjust the volume.
Chuffing sound is a no-go. Tried everything and I am starting to think that Lionel "RTR" stands for "Ready To Return." Two Hogwarts Express RTR sets purchased and both have problems out of the box purchased brand new from a retailer (not eBay). Compared to 2006 MTH PS2 set -- not impressed. Had high hopes for LionChief, but not sure anymore.
