I figure you already answered your own question. Run anything you care to in whatever way you care to.
It ought to look pretty neat, actually: I can't think of any reason not to.

Yea sure, the old "it's my railroad, and I'll do what I want", but since you asked; rarely did you ever see PFE reefers on the Santa Fe. Why? Well the Pacific Fruit Express company was jointly owned by the Southern Pacific and Union Pacific railroads, while the Santa Fe had their own SFRD reefer business. Thus, the vast majority of those thousands and thousands of PFE reefers traveled eastward on,,,,,,,,wait for it,,,,,,,The SP & UP railroads!

I knew that Santa Fe had their own reefers (I have a couple map slogan ones), mainly wanted to be sure the era was correct, and I believe it is.
