I was recently given a NYC 2344 AA that is in generally good condition. There is some battery damage present on the fuel tank. It has not done extensive damage but there is some surface corrosion. What is the best way to handle this?
There are many different ways, this is what I have done. Could be overkill but the corrosion stop and it looks perfect. Chemical strip the frame. Hit the frame with glass beads. There is a automotive head shop nearby that lets me use their cabinet. I then use a etching liquid to kill any left corrosion. Zinc chromate primer. Auto body filler for any pits. Sand with 320 paper. Final prime then top coat. There is two shades of grey paint available. A light and a dark.
