Central Il. is a BIG area. Where are you talking about? Any where near St. Louis?
Al
How central do you want? Cubs fan or Cards fan?
I am from the land of corn and soy beans.
I live in Eureka IL between Bloomington and Peoria
Go Cubs LOL
Next time you're in Bloomington you'll need to swing by Hobbyland. Jerry has a great layout, display, and helpful store. As a relatively recent Chicagolandian transplant to the Central IL area it was nice to find such a strong local shop. It makes up for no Portillo's.
Go Sox.
WITZ 41, you mean Hobbyland-- The Store With The Big Red Door?
Well, that's two uf us in Blo-No. Eureka isn't too far away. And I know of one other O-gauger in Blo-No. He reads the forum, but doesn't much advertise where he's from.
Peoria area myself and have a friend I met through this forum in Springfield and my wife has family in Eureka. ? If you have either kids or grand kids at the Davenport school I believe you might know one or two of them
Cub fan Arlington Hts, but I travel the whole state and 12 more!!!
I live in Bloomington also--
Jeff
Hey Jeff!
It's me, the one who bugs you at work now and again!
I love Hobbyland Jerry is a good friend!!
So, when is the incipient Central IL RR club going to meet?
Is there even a rail club in Central IL who is O gauge?

Only if we say there is, then set up a time and location to meet.
Would be neat to at least meet up and compare notes. Anyone up for that?
I like Hobbyland. Incredbly nice store. Good stock, varied gauge which is nice even though I am only interested in 3 rail O. Well...maybe some day...G.
Chuck, Urbana.

Does Slot & Wing in Champaign still carry any train stuff? They used to carry some close out or factory 2nds back in the day.
Who is going to the train show in Springfield IL March 11 next Sunday

Yes they do carry pretty much the same as they always have. Pretty good selection on track of several gauges, G included. They also had a loop of 3 rail O on the slot car table with a train running. Lots of various train sets...mostly HO some G and O.
If not going to the train show in Springfield which I am going to try to make we could always plan a time for a meet and greet at the busy corner in Goodfield. Sort of in the middle between Peoria and Bloomington. Any other ideas anyone
What time at Busy Corner? Are you thinking of the day of the show.
no just sometime in the future when we can get together. day of the show would not be to good for me but possible if evening and is the busy corner open on Sunday I believe it is closed on Sundays ????? Could possibly meet some place on west side of Bloomington need more ideas for some place's and times since i am retired i am fairly flexible
I won't be able to attend the train show.
Since I don't drive (vision issues), I'd prefer a gathering in Bloomington. Perhaps at one of the coffee shops in downtown Bloomington. Or if someone from Bloomington can give me a lift to an out of town meeting.
We can meet at Hobbyland. Jark I you like to go to Springfield sho I be glad to have for the ride.
Thanks John. However, I am otherwise obligated that day.
I'm near Galesburg...and I travel. I will have to check out Hobbyland. Generally Ogauge stores are rare around Central IL.
It is a nice store only been there once and person behind the counter was easy to talk to and informative of course nothing he had that i liked i could afford because of my empty pocket
who is going to Springfield Sunday March 11? Chinatrain and I are going to meet up there at about 11ish
any one else from OGR going?

Jerry from Hobbyland says they open at 9am I was thinking of being there around then but I can meet you there
Guys,
Just read your postings, I live in Washington, which is just a few miles outside of Eureka. Feel free to get in touch with me anytime. I'm generally not online a lot as I'm either busy working late or with the kids.
Hey guys! What are you doing on Sunday April 8th?
Why don't we try to meet up at The Coffee Hound in downtown Bloomington? It's about a block and a half from Hobbyland.

I'll plan to be there after 1:00 pm. I'll bring my laptop with pictures of my layout-in-progress. Hope to see you there!
The Du Page, IL Show is this SUNDAY; Come out and post a sign; or some of meet early for breakfast at Seven Dwarfs or at 7:00am at the Verdict Restaurant on S. County Farm rd just North of West Roosevelt Road.
Just a reminder for anyone in the Central IL area. I still plan to hang out at The Coffee Hound in downtown Bloomington tomorrow. Yeah, I know it's Easter Sunday. But if anyone is free and wants to meet up I'll be there after 1:00 PM.
