My only Lionchief 2.0+ is a traditional sized GG1, and, in order to replace a traction tire, the shell has to be removed, and the truck has to be dropped to access the sideframes, which have to be unscrewed to install the new tire. Major PITA, and PPP on Lionel’s end. 🤬🤬🤬
I change my own just not crazy about traction tires but they do well. Prefer magnetraction but realize many do not have tinplate for track now a days so magne traction is useless on non steel type track.
I put gp magne traction power trucks on 2 little new joe diesels they fit perfect and also on a Mpc new Virginian Rectifier, the original power truck sits in its corresponding box.
They run nice and no worries about traction tires on those.
Cannot figure out how to on the gp B&M cab# 8654 though as the motor mount is bigger and different the the postwar GP and do not want to modify its frame in anyway. To bad it is not like the Mpc rectifier or little joes as no modification needed at all.
Allow me to ask a basic question I did not see adequately addressed in this thread: I have engines from Atlas, K-Line, Lionel, MTH, and now Third Rail. Steamers, Electrics and Diesels.
Do all these engines take different size traction tires? How do I know what ones to use if I no longer have replacements in the original locomotive box?
Thank you.
