How exactly do you create this link?

You mean like @gunrunnerjohn?
You literally type the @plus the members forum name.
@gunrunnerjohn I think (assuming this worked) is the you just type the "@" symbol and their username.

That's too easy, I was looking for something more complicated!
Thanks guys.

It does it automatically if you use the "Reply with Quote" feature.
Finally , something John doesn't know!......

Yes but sometimes the person you are trying to draw attention to the thread didn't post to the thread yet. It really is a nice feature though as long as the person's attention you are trying to get follows through.

Exactly, I knew it did it for quotes, but I didn't know how to actually do it "bareback". I was obviously over-thinking it seeing how simple it actually is.
One of the hardest things is if you have a pretty common name and have to work through the various names until you get the right one. Or, the one where you know their actual name and are unsure of their handle here. A few times I've had to hunt down a post to see their user name.
One odd quirk to this, when using Android to respond to links, the moment you type the "@" symbol, the forum for whatever reason wants to immediately add another "@" and then you end up with "@@" and since nobody's username starts with "@" then you can't create the link without backspacing immediately over the last @before typing anything else.
I was wondering this very thing as I've seen it done but didn't know how to do it. Thanks @gunrunnerjohn

Does this intermittently on my iPhone as well. More than not.

Yes, I do it all the time when I don't want to copy a long post or if i want to "tag" a few people who have replied earlier in the topic.
Now you know @superwarp1.

I saw it all the time, but I never heard described how you made it happen. Simple when you know the "secret handshake".
Ok, I think we just opened a Pandora's box

Nope. This has been discussed multiple times before and it never caused an issue because it can be ignored. Trust me I know.
Well, at least we're not hashtagging everything. I'll never understand how the number sign, aka pound sign equals hashtag. Save that for that birdy app site which doesn't make sense to me. Tweety tweets, birds chirp. Neither hashtag.
