I am having problems with getting TMCC equipped locomotives to work in command with some used TMCC equipment I just got.  See here.  In order to know if it's the locomotives, the command base and/or Cab-1, or my house that is keeping things from working correctly, I need some in person help.  I'm hoping a fellow forumite with a working TMCC/Legacy setup will be willing to allow me to bring the locomotives over to see if they work on their setup.  And if they do, then to swap command bases to see if they work.  If everything I bring works at your house, then I know my house is not TMCC compatible and I'll have to look into making it so.  Being a "young" guy in the hobby, I still work everyday.  I am free most evenings and Saturdays.  If you are willing to give me a hand and let me visit your railroad with my motive power, please email me and we can figure out a time.  I thank you so much for your help and time.  The email to use is nj<underscore>sinclair<at>hotmail<dot>com.  Please make the subject "TMCC in Mesa" so that my spam filter doesn't catch it.

hello sinclair..... humor me ok, try this for s..ts n giggles press engine then id# then press boost button engine should startup.

now have you added smoke fluid into the smoke unit? if you have then allow the heating element to warm up now without moving the engine push the bell button for 3 seconds release does it stay on? if it does press bell button again for 3 seconds and release the bell should shut off.

now push and hold the whistle button down the whistle should sound and cease when you release it.

Sinclair, If you lived closer you could stop on by anytime, however I am in Michigan.

My advice is to go slow and don't get frustrated. I found TMCC is one of the easier systems to get started in.

Set up a loop of track, plug the system in to a well grounded wall plug, and try different "known" engines that work. You will be able to identify quickly what is the issue.

9 times out of 10 it usually something very simple. Good luck.

Thanks guys.  $oo, I'll try your items in order and get back to you.  But It has thus not worked in the many ways I've tried.  Thanks JD, that is a bit far for me to go.   Peter, I'll email you in the next day or two.  BDT, I know of that club, but I figured I'd get in touch with the regulars here first since I haven't had much luck with clubs in the past because I wasn't a member.

Why not just go see the guys with the Ogauge layout at McCormick-Stillman Railroad park? I'm sure they can help you. If the red light blinks everytime it is communicating with the base, if it is installed correctly it only leaves the engine, the base not sending out a signal, or the house wiring. (which is easily checked by bringing all of it and two pieces of track anywhere) Still leaning towards that K-Line command control stuff.

I've thought about it, but I'm just not really a club kind of guy.  Most of the clubs I've looked at have dues and requirements for meeting attendance and schedules for running club layouts.  I'm not in a point in my life yet where I can dedicate time to a club like that or have a desire too.  I do like the social part of the idea.

Which club is that?

the 3r's is an operating club six days a week at the san diego model railroad museum. I am there most Tuesdays and will help anyone who asks.

agtta is a club that gets together every month like a swap meet to buy and sell trains we have a module layout that we set up at the museum a few times a year and we set it up when the train shows come to san diego (de mar).

Oops, sorry Peter.  I did get some other responses too, but I will contact you soon.  I'm busy with other things too, but after Nov. 2nd, I should have more free time in the evenings to get with someone to work on the locomotives.  In one of the lead communications guys for the City of Tempe's C.E.R.T. program and we have a drill on the 2nd.  Once that's done I'll have the time for trains.  Thanks everyone!
