I have a K Line Scale Hudson that GGG (George) is going to be upgrading from it's TMCC to PS-2 (with fan driven smoke). It's going to need a soundset, so I thought I'd throw this out there to see if our Forum friends have suggestions as to what would be a good fit for my engine. I do have a few requirements. My top priorities are a great whistle and chuff effects. A good bell is next in priority. I use the various whistles most of all (forward, reverse, crossing, Doppler). The dialog is the lowest priority although would prefer passenger as many of the freight yard soundsets are silly and I don't use them. But if the good whistle, chuff etc. only comes with freight yard, I'll go with that.

Bring it on....

Well, If your engine is a NYC Hudson, not a whole lot of different choices. I don't think you would want a PRR Atlantic sound set! If you like the Crossing signal command, that only comes with some of the more recent releases. Maybe a Mohawk (4-8-2) freight loco might fill your need if you want a freight PFA. The Niagara has the same whistle as the Hudson, and a passenger PFA. One of my favorites is the streamlined 20th Century Limited, but that is a 5 volt system and does not have the SXS command.

Maybe one of the recent Railking 4-8-4's.

Maybe GGG can make some other suggestions

The video has a NYC Hudson soundset, De Witt Clinton was a NYC passenger train. Should be easy to find. I forgot when I posted, but a excellent soundset is from a Tinplate 249e loco, I loaded it my Tinplate Commodore Silver Streak set. Totally awesome whistle to my ears, be sure to check that soundset out when loading soundsets to check out. It is 11-6010-1

Chuck,

I appreciate your advice on this thread. Yep, it's a Hudson.....problem is....the newer Hudson soundsets seem to have a fast, annoying bell sound. So, I'm not sure which one this is. MTH is not user friendly for Mac users, so sound sampling outside of Youtube is not an option for me. I'm hoping someone recognizes the engine set. But GGG had a nice one as well with the Mohawk. Some I've heard have almost a PW whistle screech, though,  at the end of a whistle blow. Not sure about that. But I've got time.

I'm going to try and find a 249e on Youtube as per your suggestion.

Thanks!

No,  But I keep a few boards flashed for QW in stock.  That way if some one has an engine board failure (5V or 3V) I can repair and provide the QW feature.  Bigboy, Challenger, Heavy Pacific, J, Mohawk, etc...  Obviously they all are Premier sound sets with this feature in PS-2.  I have done it for N&W J, and a brass conversion.  Be nice if this feature could be added to more engine types, but apparently it is labor intensive and the sounds guys are working on the new production stuff.   G
