Hey y'all! I just pulled my NKP #759 out of storage and noticed something strange, it will run 100% fine without the smoke unit on, as soon as I turn it on, it freaks out and I have no idea what begin to look at. Could it be the smoke unit has failed and is tripping something in the engine or something more? Thank you all in advance.

I think the blinking light means the board inside detected a problem with the smoke unit.

If it's still under warranty, you'll want to contact Lionel. If not, and you’re comfortable working on it, you could remove the shell and look at the smoke unit and wiring.

I don't know if the blinking indicates anything specific, but the fan motor could be shorted out, the thermistor (that regulates the temperature) could be too close to the smoke resistor or wick.

You can order parts for it here: https://www.lionelsupport.com by searching for the product number of your locomotive.
