In DCS command>soft keys>more.#30 is conventionel [ES44ac ps2]. What happens if i hit enter while in command..I am using fixed 1 at the TIU. My fear is it might go full throttle.

I think you're correct,,,, Hope your power supply has a direction button.
There's another soft key Legacy mode.... I think it's pretty much the same thing.

Soft key "Conventional"? What's "conventional"? 
Just try it and find out.
Yes, the engine will take off at full speed. I made that mistake and now I have a Rail King 2-8-0 missing a front step. She hit the floor pretty hard.
