I have the Indiana Railroad PS3 SD-40-2, MTH 20-20409-1 purchased in April of 2015.  A several days back the following occurred:

1. When TIU and track were powered, locomotive sound started immediately, head light and number board lights came on, smoke started.  Locomotive sat in neutral.

2. Initially locomotive would move forward and back with thumb wheel and directional button use.

3. Wouldn't respond to light, smoke, or coupler commands from the remote.

4. When I tried to shut the engine down "Engine Not on Track" displayed.

5. Multiple feature and factory resets attempted.  Unsuccessful.  Recover engine did not work.

6. Deleted engine from remote.  Now, remote cannot find the engine to add it.  "Engine Not on Track."

Ran engine in Conventional Mode.  After many tries got the locomotive to do a conventional reset (got two horn blasts back and all sounds went full loud).

Still cannot add the engine in DCS with remote.  Track signal strength 10.  I even tethered the remote.

At present the locomotive is running in conventional mode with the smoke pot turned all the way down and the volume pot set low.  Runs this way.

Thoughts?

Regards, Rick

It is a DCC / DCS engine, and the switch was in the DCC position.  In picking the locomotive up off the track several days ago, my hand flicked the switch from DCS to DCC.  I never would have thought to look since I only use DCS.

The "G" stands for "Genius" in this case.  It works just fine.

Thank you so much!

Rick
