When installing Proto-1 without a volume pot, is it necessary to use a jumper? If so, which terminals do you jump? Thanks.

Yes it will need a jumper. Which ever wire is 0 ohms to the center when you have full volume. Not sure which one it is specifically. Would be similar to how it is done with the MTH PS-2 upgrade when no volume pot use. G
Thanks G. That explains why the engine I just did for a friend is silent. I'll get out the VOM and check a volume pot - I must have one around here somewhere. My inventory of parts is a mess and obsolete electronics are a bigger mess than the rest. Rigging the jumper will take 30 seconds - figuring out which terminal will take a bit longer. I did a TMCC engine a while back without a volume pot and I had to jumper it the same way you describe, wasn't sure I'd have to do it for a PS-1 board as well.
The middle lead will always be used, just move the jumper from where it is to the other two. I've used .1" jumper blocks to lock PS/1 engines in full volume, quick and easy.
