I have the Tortise 800-8100 1nd 8101 actuators and confused by directions (surprise .)
My NJI gates have a total actuator travel of approximately 0.125 inches. Acording to the table in the Totrtise instruction sheet step 3, I need to use Drive mechanism pivot hole number 3 and bellcrank hole number 1 (0.110-0.129) or 2 (0.130-0.150) depending on how much play is in gate arm actuators.
However at step 16, Assembling the Drive Mechanism, states there are 5 "coarse" total slide travel lengths from 0.125 to 0.675 and then says refer to the step 3 chart third column to determine the recommended pivot hole for drive arm. Except third column is bellcrank, so I assumed a typo and meant column two. wouldn't I really want pivot hole 1 (0.125 travel) to operate the 0.125 actuator travel.
If I use the recommended drive mechanism pivot hole 3 (0.275" slide travel) and bell crank hole, won't the bell crank be over extending my 0.125? Obviously there are mechanical interplays going on here to acheiving my 0.125" travel. I am assuming that the 0.275 is "leveraged down" (for lack of better term) by bell crank to equal about 0.125".
But wanted to check if I am reading this chart and steps correctly as it will be a pain in *** to undo things once mounted under layout and finagling with adjustments.
Electrical great , mechanical, not so much
