I recently bought a Lionel 665 engine from a Goodwill Store. It was in poor shape and needed some parts. It came with a tender that works great once I soldered the wires back onto the pickups. The engine is running good after cleaning, lubing, and oiling. I also replaced the brushes. My experience with repairing these engines is very limited.
My issue now is to get the smoke unit working. There is a loose brown wire dangling between the E-unit and the smoke unit. This wire points up in the air. See the pictures. It looks like this wire was once soldered to the top of the smoke unit. Does this wire go to the smoke unit?
