I was entranced with how this stuff clung into a film hanging in the air between running gears, but am now convinced grease makes a lot more sense. Am I missing something?
I've used it on external gears of diesel locomotive trucks. For this, its a bit cleaner than grease, and it allows you to periodically re lube as needed.
I only use grease in enclosed gearboxes. However some have posted using a "tacky" grease like Red N'Tacky #2 on exposed gears sparingly with good results.
Theres really no wrong answer, its more of a preference thing.
