Ives track clips

I spent the better part of two days trying to put several sections of track together with these. 

I finally decided to seek help, both physical and medical. These things and 027 track are sharp.

I looked online and it became painfully obvious what the problem was as I looked at a picture. 

They are designed for 027 and I was using marx 034. The distance between the two end ties

is considerably longer on the 034 when two pieces are joined together. Does anyone know of

something similiar that will work with 034? I don't want to fasten the track to the table in any way.
