Be advised someone has his email and a photo of his driver’s license and is asking for Apple Gift cards.

I received one of those bogus e-mails today. I sure would like to reach out and "touch" whatever slime bag is responsible.
I just saw John in early March of this year. I thought he was still alive as of today? Perhaps someone hacked his email account?
Just talked to John's wife this morning. John is in a nursing home and is slowly improving.
I got 3. First one had his picture on it. Scammer said he needed a gift card for a cancer patient.
Also said I get repaid by check, yeah right. I contacted the OGR publisher about this. Yes his Email account was hacked.
No I didn't fall for this scam.
I have exchanged emails with John in past and got two today. I am not sure OGR has anything to do with this. Likely limited to those that are in John’s email account.

Yeah, I got an e-mail as well. Smelled fishy.
That's a real shame about John.

Please let her know that his email acct has been hacked.
@Griff Murphey- If the above it true, please edit your post topic.
My mistake it was another hero John Mateyko - an infantry officer.
Anyway it’s certainly a scam and obviously a lot of guys have been hit.
May be a worker in his facility got hold of his tablet or phone and is the villain. They even had his drivers license.
I’m glad to hear he is ok. I am not surprised at any thieving that occurs in nursing homes. Thank you for the most welcome correction.

This is correct. I personally talked with his wife today. Someone hacked his home computer account which had info John had saved there. His forum account was not hacked since the person doing this is NOT a forum member. Non-forum members do not have access to profile information. I am going to close this thread since all this does is warn the hacker who can read posts here without being a member.
TIP: if you are contacted by someone that says he/she is a forum member, you need to get all of the information you can from that individual. Name, address, email address, what they go by on the forum, etc. Then do a search for the member and compare. This is common sense guys!
