My ground lights are off on my sd70ace and I can;t find an icon that will turn them on. I used the new guide on lionels site for 1.51 and tried the icons in aux2 light controls and pressing ground light on icon makes it turn black which I am finding out means does not work as once I release the on icon it goes back to the off button. any ideas whats going on. I did learn if you press a button and it does not turn black it took it as a command. I accidently turned my backup light off and thought it was burned out for awhile but later found out one of the icons is for that also. New things do keep my brain active and working well so guess it is good I have this hobby. I am 69 years old and can remember in detail what I did days ago but ask me what I did yesterday and duh have a hard time remembering.

shows the ground lights icon. one for on, one for off. do the lights come on when engine is stopped? when engine starts running they will go off after about 15mph.
I just packed my sd70ace away so I can't check but I believe they work only when running up to 15mph as Bigdodgetrain says. I think they also cannot be turned on or off unless running from 1-15mph. When the ditch lights are on if the room is real bright it is hard to see they're on.

I agree with Ron, I played with the ground light icon for my genset, but they always seem to be on until you dial the Legacy control past 25, then they're off.
my problem is to get them on.
OH, that's a different issue. Have you asked Mike Reagan at Lionel?
Have you tried turning them on when the engine is moving slowly? They may only accept the commands when they're able to work.

I will try that next. Is it possible mine does not have ground lights. It is one of the 1st edition sd70ace lionel made in Union Pacific. I know it does accept holding the aux1 button down for the auto trip mode nor does it talk about it in the manuel.
Flip it over and look. They're just little flat LED's that should be close to directly under the cab windows.
Is your UP SD-70 ACe road number 8348? If so, yes it does have ground lights. They are only on for speeds 1-4 and turn off at 5 or above.
To manually override them off using a CAB-2 controller, the button is located at column 1, row 5. To turn them back on to automatic operation, the button is located at column 1, row 4.
I could not find any direction on how to control them with a CAB-1 controller.
with the new aux2 light keypad are any of those icons for ground lights and if so do they override the aux1 keypad. I think this is where my problem is getting the two menus working against each other.
