Did K-Line produce trains with plastic trucks? I know their early items, esp. tank cars, had plastic chasses. I am unfamiliar with any K-Line products having plastic trucks. Thank you for your input.

Most production was plastic trucks. The "Classic" series and collector items had metal trucks.
Yep, I've seen K-line plastic trucks. I may even still have some around here someplace. They had plastic power trucks on come of their cheap stuff as well.
K-Line's plastic trucks were virtually identical to the plastic Symington-Wayne trucks Lionel used from the MPC-era all the way up to the early Kughn era.
According to the 'K-Line' Book, the die cast truck arrived with the Classic Line of freight cars in 1988. The cars developed from the Marx cars except on two occasions always had plastic trucks. Into the 90's, when 'Classic' cars were used in their sets they almost always had plastic trucks installed. I assume that was a cost savings issue.

Interesting - have owned, and still own, a large amount of K-Line, and can’t recall ever seeing plastic freight trucks. Thanks.
Keep looking Mark, you'll find them. Pretty sure quite a bit of the older K-Line I have in boxes yet have plastic trucks.

You must not have the5 unit TTAX sets or the early two pack double stack sets. Those had the "symington-wayne" plastic trucks too.
Looking over my inventory of KLINE cars, the ones sold in the blue boxes have plastic trucks and the ones in the maroon or black/yellow boxes have diecast trucks.

I think it depends on the time period. Early on they only had the retooled Marx cars with plastic trucks. When they brought on the 'Classic' series cars (from Kusan K series cars) they switched to metal trucks. Still later the Marx series cars began disappearing from the line and the 640 series and 760 series cars began to relegate the Classic series lower down the line.
Moving into the 90's K-Line was trying with great effort to upgrade the quality of the line to compete directly with the other players.
I know that the steam Hershey set has rolling stock with plastic trucks.
