I am playing with my K-Line New York Central 3010 4-6-2 steam engine, I like to call it a Pacific though K-Line did not.  Right now it's heading my 5 car milk train and doing I fine job.  Before being pressed into service I lubed the engine and be running well conventionally, however, the air whistle in the render needs some work.  It's been a long time since it's gotten any run time so at first I figured it would take some time and a number of activations to work in but the reaction to the Horn/Whistle button on my Z-750 is often slow and weak.  I figure it needs a little service.  Before I start taking it apart does anyone know what should be looking for in one of these air whistle units, should I be looking to lube it or is there some other routine maintenance that may improve operation?
