I just pulled my Lionel 6-28052 Class A apart to prepare for a Cruise M install along with chuff generator and super chuffer install.
I see that this engine has a R2LC06 installed in it. Can I use this board or do I need to switch over to R2LC08? I have never seen the 06 board before.
I just updated my T1 with cruise m and a R2lc07 with no problem other than a bad cruise board. Roy took good care of me on that and fixed me right up.

You can try it. If it doesn't work try the C08. G
I did the same engine but only installed the cruise commander M. I used the original R2LC that came with the engine. Works perfectly.
I could be wrong so don't hold me to this...it's been a number of years, but I seem to remember the C06 version was used for the early culvert loader and unloader so it won't have a smoke function. I guess try it and see.
Thank you, the engine does have smoke so I will give it a shot.
If it doesn't work out I will install an 08 r2lc.
