LIONEL VISION NIAGRA UNRESPONSIVE

I bought this loco new from Legacy Station. It has sat on some upowered trck for some time; now when I apply power to the track it immediately powers up with trainsounds but is totally unreponsive to commands from my remote. I have checked the handrails [antenna] and all good. It has not been dropped or otherwise interferred with. Could the board have gone bad? If possibly then it would be much cheaper to order a new board and fit it but thats a bit of a stab in the dark. I have tried reprogramming the loco but no luck.

Hi, let me ask the dum questions first. Are all switches in proper position? If so have you checked and reseated the boards in engine?  Next check to see if pickup rollers are connected in engine?  If you have another legacy steamer try switching out tender to see if tender responses. If so it’s the engine only and tender boards are ok.
