Hello fellow Railroaders,

I would like to know if K-Line has ever produced a price guide book similar to the Lionel price guide book from there beginning until they went out of business? If there isn't a book available how can I find what was available by K-Line to see what they carried throughout the years and what is the current price for there Engines, Cars (Freight/Passenger,) Sets, maybe Accessories?

Thank you for your time

Sincerely

Allan

Maury Klein refused to let publishers put together a guide for some reason.  If I recall correctly he put out a guide of his own at one point.  Would not contain the full K-Line product history.  So you are stuck with finding catalogs over the years, and sales sheets.  As for current prices, no guide is really useful anyway.  Best bet is to follow completed on-line auctions.

When it comes to K-Line, the best resources are the Legacy K-Line site, K-Line's catalogs, and the book "K-Line Collector's Guide Volume I: Trains 1985-1998."  None of them will give you current market prices -- for that, research on eBay and at train shows is probably your best bet.  Prices can be all over the place.

I have the KCG book, and it is worth owning if you are a K-Line fan.  I just wish the TCA would digitize all of the K-Line catalogs (and Weaver catalogs, for that matter) and make them available on their web site.  I have all of the ones that were available in PDF before they closed their doors, but having them all would be invaluable for collectors' research.
