K-line Locomotive Details

I agree rope pulls make a big difference. I was originally inspired by MTH engines that have been adding this detail since the early 2000s. Other easily added details are class/marker lenses using flat bottom jewels, similar to the pointed ones used in non lit markers but with a flat bottom, also coupler lift bars and chains if not already equiped plus air hoses on the pilot. Then cab curtains and engine to tender deck plates. The latter requires a straight tether or wireless one.

I enjoy added details. However, if you want to be authentic, the Pennsy used pneumatically-driven bells on their locomotives (so no rope pulls on the the bell).

I agree on no rope pulls being correct for PRR.  I have this same locomotive and removed the smoke lifter "ears" to make the appearance more typical for the K4s class.  They are screwed on from underneath if I recall.  Nice job on shortening the drawbar, I did the same on mine. 

@Slugger Thanks for the info! I thought that was the case when I couldn't find any images of a K4 with a pull rope but I figured feeding wire through the stanchions would be easier than removing them and filling the holes

Lift bars are cut from brass sheet (.015-.020" ??). Chain and air hoses from Precision Scale. They offer both single and double air hoses. Use double on many passenger engines.

I have the same engine (and some nice MTH Premier cars for it to pull)- may have to think about the shortened drawbar.

Have a nice picture on my bench at work of this same engine (with the smoke deflectors) hauling the Trailblazer train. That's the REAL Trailblazer, BTW.
