Attached is another kit that I built for my layout. Last year I completed the Korber General Light and Power kit. It was another time consuming kit, but one that I am satisfied with the finished product. This is a central building to my coal hauling layout, as it is the destination for my coal loads. I added one light to the inside of the building. The best thing I did was to add flashing LED aircraft warning lights from Evan Designs at the top of the smoke stacks. Hopefully the video loads properly and you can see how they flash in the dark. It leaves a positive impression on everyone who comes to visit my layout. And, it was not very hard to accomplish. I just drilled a hole at the top of each smoke stack and ran the wires down the middle and out the back, where I drilled another hole. I then ran the wires down the back side of the building inside a heat shrinkable tube, which looks like a gutter downspout on the building.
The transformer I purchased from Stu Gralnik. In the future, I might add wires from the transformer to the MTH hi-tension towers that are on the hill behind. The fake smoke at the top of the smoke stacks came from my labrador's stuffed animal. He loves to tear his animal toys apart. I made the coal pile as well. It is made from black media blasting material. In fact, I made 60+ coal loads for my MTH coal hoppers with the same material. You can see in the picture the UP 4 bay hoppers have a flat coal load. I also made humped coal loads for my MTH coalporters. I despise the factory provided coal loads, as they are not realistic enough for me.
