Is there any way to make the deep labored chuff constant on Proto 2 and 3 engines without holding down the button on the DCS remote?
I like the deeper chuff a lot better than the standard chuff.

Unfortunately NO. I also like the deeper chuff.Might be something MTH might look at??
Maybe someday if they ever release 4.30?
Its upsetting because you really have to be pulling a hefty load or on a steep grade for the proto chuff to kick on.
Whenever I've pressed the labor button, none of the locomotives change the sounds.

You have some sort of issue, all of my steamers do. The diesels will just increase/decrease RPM.
I too have asked for a push on, push off control of Labored Chuff since the sensing for it can't seem to satisfy me.
I can accelerate 58 cars behind my Big boy, Fully looping my layout. No Labored Chuffs at all.
If I use quick set to jump to 30 SMPH it will labor for about a foot, IF I don't stringline or pop a coupler first.

Go into the sound menu and make sure PROTO CHUFF is on AUTO.
Pressing the labored chuffed also increases the heat to the smoke unit creating additional smoke output. If there was a way to lock the labored chuff on, then it would also have to not be able to increase the additional smoke output as the smoke unit should not be run too long at the higher setting.

John, it should Be noted that my TIU and remote have 4.30

Perhaps it was a mistake on mth's part, but my remote says 4.30 and th chip inside my TIU says 4.30
When you call up the versions, what shows up on the screen for the TIU and remote?
There is no DCS 4.30 release, beta or otherwise. The latest release of DCS is 4.20.
Must be a typo on my chip inside the TIU. My remote software is 4.20, but the chip in the TIU is labeled as 4.30.Very odd, MTH.
the chip in the TIU is labeled as 4.30
The hardware chip in the TIU has nothing at all to do with the version of DCS software in the tIU..
To learn the TIU's software version, press: Menu/System/TIU Setup/TIU Version
This and a whole lot more is all in "The DCS O Gauge Companion 2nd Edition", now available for purchase as an eBook or a printed book from MTH's web store site! Click on the link below to go to MTH's web page for the book!
