Large o27 layout

Happy to see another non 4x8 layout that's 027 for once.

That grade in the 2nd photo is extreme, but mostly the transition at the bottom is abrupt.  Do you have locomotives that will do that, as I know I don't.

Tom , yes on the switch back there is some atlos o   but on the main line is all tubular sorry my mistake.

    I like the over all layout concept, as Sinclair pointed out you have some pretty steep trestle grade on part of it, you may be doing some down hill running on that particular incline, or some reengineering.  Great looking construction on your 027 layout so far.

Sinclair, yes my 3 truck tmcc Shay walks up it with no trouble.  But being a deep Appalachian mountain switch back it would have steep grades.I'll try and post a clip soon.

 Thanks for the reply, but my Shay, which is the only thing running on the switch back portion of the layout. It dose not "roll away" going down hill nor struggle to climb up it, it just chuggs away.

I think this is neat...I have an all 0-31 switching layout..... as for grades....I have seen other layouts with really steep grades and trains going full tilt up and down... Makes me wish I had done an up and over now!!!! Good work Josh.

Hey rick, thanks for the post, yea its funny some people just cant handel a layout if its not a flat loop. But with the grades on the main and the switch back i have a lot of fun running and keeps yoy involved as an operator.

I like table top flat or up n down....any train layout is interesting.

Just some upgraded scenery work building my mountain. And yes those log cars are custom built.

Ok Josh,  I'm going to have to think about this. That is a lot of vertical surface there...I like it. A lot. Plaster over wire? 

Well plaster dipped paper towels draped over carbord lattice. No reason to wast the vertical space, allows for realistic mountain and act's like a decided from side to side to make it look bigger.
