I just picked up a nice 3rd Rail Q2 from the late 90s for a good price, but I need a little help with it as it didn’t come with a manual.
I know these use a similar system to MTH Protosound 1, the issue I’m having is that the sound would start up in low quality, then quit after 5 seconds and start again. When running the locomotive, it would move only when the sound was working. I’d assume it’s a dead battery, is it the same type as in a PS1 locomotive? It did seem to improve when I left in neutral for half a minute, but I didn’t want to cook the board if there was something else wrong.
Second, is there a volume pot on it somewhere? The sounds were extremely loud, but I can’t study the underside of the tender too closely until I glue some of the coal back in.
