I have a few 4' by 8' O gauge train layout dioramas taken from a museum layout. There is a circus scene, perpetual highway, USA government scene, and a construction scene. Where would be a good place to sell these dioramas?

Is each one 4' x 8'? If so, a local swap meet is an option as shipping them could be rather expensive. If 4' x 8', they are too large for the postal service or package express companies which leaves either delivery by you, pick up by the buyer, or crating and having a truck line deliver them. Thanks for your reply. Yes, the dioramas are that large. Swap meets are a good suggestion, but, unfortunately, I have no way of getting them to a meet.

Those are good ideas. Thanks again for your help. I really appreciate it.

Railroadgalaxy,
I think I saw you had those on craigslist as I am also in PA. Are they from the Choo Choo barn layout? They look familiar.
No, they were from a museum layout in Iowa.

John:
These dioramas were part of a museum layout from Iowa that I bought and had delivered to me here in Pennsylvania.

Not to derail the thread, but what Iowa museum had these? There may be some significance to someone in that area to own something.
Brian:
It was the Dumont museum in Sigourney, Iowa. There is a video on youtube showing the layout in action.

They were crated and delivered by an independent trucker. The crates were not saved -- too bulky for storage space. My plans were to sell the dioramas. In the grand scheme of things (layout size, number of items on the layout, and so on), the shipping cost was significant but a fraction of the layout worth.

I'd sell the circus diorama for $300, the government layout for $200, the perpetual highway for $200, and the construction scene for $50. It would be regretable to sell items from the layout, because the mechanisms and animation are incredible, but that would be the buyer's decision.

Could you post a photo/video of the construction scene? I don't believe I've seen that one.
I would be interested in the construction scene and taking a look at what else you have in person. I live near Harrisburg so could drive to you and pickup anything I purchase. I'm not sure how to contact each other outside of the forum though...
You're welcome to come and look. My address is 1505 High Meadow Lane, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, and my phone number is 717-697-8029
