Well I finally tore down my layout.  It was planned to have a much shorter life span.  It was never intended to be on public display, but it was for all of December.  When I started I only had conventional engines and designed a conventional plan.  I now have DCS and 3 PS2 engines, so the tear down was a must if I am to rebuild, better and more interesting.  While I was ripping apart the layout today , I had a moment where I realized all the things I did wrong or maybe not so much wrong, but will do more efficiently on the next layout.  Taking the table out was harder than I though,  all the screws were buried under white glue and scenery.  The wiring was a birds nest.  I looked and knew that the next layout will be much easier and more organized.  When I finished the layout is was really a bit of a let down, I did enjoy building something all the time.

Thank you for sharing that.  It is always fun building a layout and always a bit sad to tear it down.

For the first time in all the layouts I have ever built, on my current I have no regrets or things I want to improve.  But I do miss building something, and I have thought about starting over just for the fun.  But no: it would not be as much fun when I would just be re-building the same thing.

I have decided a trolley going up and down main street would be cool, and that means tearing up the street and compressing all the buildings an inch and a half to get the room, then putting in all new 'Streets.  I look forward to that, although not for some time (at least unto D-21 curves are available again.)
