RE: https://ogrforum.com/...l-4-6-6t-1297?page=3

Just received Lionel 2031010 Boston & Albany 4-6-6T.   As was mentioned in referenced OGR post, one of my front ladders (left side from engineer perspective) was broken off ... just finished gluing it back in place.

Included in Lionel box were two 'add on' parts ... see below photo.  Image on right is a fixed claw coupling that I believe is to replace the scale front coupler?  However, no directions included in user guide on how to do replace the scale front coupler with this larger, fixed one if one wants to. Don't know if I want to, but would like to know how to.

Also included in the Lionel box is the part in middle of below photo ... a thin flat plate with three holes in it along with two small machine screws (in zip lock pouch on left of photo.  I do not know what this if for ... no mention of it in the user guide.

Lastly, I saw in reference OGR post, near bottom of page 3, that a couple of fellas mentioned they had ordered a 'replacement pilot' from Lionel.  This puzzles me ... what is this part and why did they order it for their new Tank Engine?  All are mentioned in posts that also reported broken front ladders.  Perhaps the replacement pilot comes as a sub-assembly with ladders installed?

Regards,-

Tom

Well, I found a partial answer to one of my parts questions.  I googled Lionel online parts and entered 4-6-6T as a part number and got this ... https://www.lionelsupport.com/...amp;CFTOKEN=25345363    "Pilot w/steps, 4-6-6T, Black, P/N 48-2031020-071"

So, apparently a 4-6-6T replacement pilot includes steps already firmly mounted onto the pilot.  The Lionel parts store does not provide a photo of what's included with the pilot besides the two step assemblies.  So, unable to see what the pilot assembly includes.

Also, this is the only part that comes up when the engine part number is entered so unable to see an exploded parts breakdown of other 4-6-6T components.  Likely because the engine has only recently been released.  I suspect the Pilot w/steps part has been provided online because quite a number of 4-6-6T engines have been delivered with broken steps.

Tom       Still hoping others will chime in on my other "parts" questions about the flat plate and fixed coupler in my above photo.
