Legacy cab2 will not charge

Energizer and Duracell both make a NiMH AA rechargeable battery that will work. I use the energizer brand and the last about 4 years

I have had the Legacy system for at least 4 years.

I guess leaving the cab2 on for so long killed the batteries.

I've been told by many to leave the charger off on the 990 base and get the expansion 993.  Use that for charging.  Doesn't get nearly has hot or fry the batteries.   Something I'm going to do when I have a little extra cash.

The factory included batteries are garbage. I’m surprised they lasted that long. Most of mine lasted months not years.

I never use the base to charge the batteries.  Buy a charger with four batteries (about $25.00) at Walmart. After each operating session, pull the center battery out of the CAB 2 unit. That will prevent battery drainage when hand-held is idle.   Re-insert next session.  Keep second set fully charged.  Be sure to get a charger that will not overcharge. You can leave it plugged in to wall socket.  Due to ease of inserting and removing batteries from CAB 2 unit, you will never have dead batteries.  AAAs are fine for the 1L, and as is the case with the CAB 1, last a very long time.  This approach to battery use was suggested to me by a pioneer TMCC expert and it works like a charm.  I have been doing this for a good long time.

I have a couple of the #993 charging bases, I found them on eBay for cheap.  They charge great and don't overheat the CAB2.  I've turned off the charger in the #990 base.

Matt Makens, Do the Enegizer, Duracell NiMH AA batteries recharge in the Legacy base? Anyone try this?  Should I use seperate battery rec-charger for these batteries.

Yes they do charge in the Legacy base. The batteries are nothing special just NiMH rechargeable batteries.
